Jackson Hole is one valley with five distinct addresses, and choosing between them matters more than choosing a house. Each end offers a different morning: the tram, the town square, a spring creek, a fairway, the river. Start with the mornings you want; the right residence follows.
A rough guide: first trip, skiing, walk-to-lift — Teton Village. Dinner and galleries on foot — downtown Jackson. A return trip with no agenda — Wilson or the corridor. Rods, boats, and room to breathe — south along the river.

Teton Village
The base of the tram, twelve miles and a world away from town.
Teton Village is not a town; it is the cluster of lodges, restaurants and residences at the foot of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, with the tram line a short walk from every door. Winter is the obvious season — summer, with hikers on the lifts and the park's gate minutes north, is the quiet argument for it.

The Aspens & Pines Corridor
Halfway between the tram and the town square, on the road that links them.
The corridor is the tree-lined stretch of the Village road between Highway 22 and Teton Village — golf-course fairways that groom into nordic track each winter, ponds, mature aspens, and the valley's most practical address for a family splitting time between the mountain and town: about 10 minutes to either.

Wilson
At the base of Teton Pass, six miles and one paved pathway west of town.
Wilson is a school, a general store and a handful of quiet lanes at the foot of Teton Pass, with Fish Creek sliding through the middle. It is the valley as locals keep it — moose in the willows, cottonwoods overhead — 10 minutes from town, 15 from the tram, and nothing resort-shaped in between.

Downtown Jackson
The valley's one real town — dinner, galleries and the elk refuge, all on foot.
Jackson is the valley's one real town — a square, galleries, serious kitchens and the National Elk Refuge beginning where the streets end. Snow King rises straight off its southern edge. Stay here to park the car once and walk to everything: dinner, coffee, the theatre, and winter's elk a few blocks away.

Snake River & South Park
South of town the hay meadows take over, and the Snake sets the pace.
South of town the valley opens: hay meadows, braided river channels, cottonwood banks and long light. This is the agricultural end of Jackson Hole, where about 1,000 elk winter on the South Park habitat area and the Snake fishes for native cutthroat. Stay here for space, sky and water.
